CircleCI Ideas

Launch builds on release creation from GitHub

We are confronting some obstacles on the moment to make some tasks when we create a release on GitHub and i think that could be a great feature if it would be added to CircleCI platform.

This is already possible, as each Release on GitHub creates and pushes a Git Tag, and those can trigger Workflows. Please check out this doc for details: https://circleci.com/docs/2.0/configuration-reference/#tags

Hello Josh, thank you for your comment. We can confirm that we do have this functionality already available. I just talked to our Support team—looks like they have been able to help you out with your specific project configuration.

Releases create lightweight tags on GitHub, which does not appear to trigger and builds on CircleCI. Is it possible have CircleCI listen to and act on the Release event on the webhook?
